Web Project I
The website you are to build is a site on travel. It can be a country, city, territory, etc. Choose a place that you have interest in.
GOALS OF THE SITE
- Create a site that is easy to navigate.
- Create a site that displays the information in a logical manner.
- Create a consistant look and feel that matches the chosen topic.
PROJECT GOALS
- Demonstrate basic working knowledge of XHTML and CSS
- Demonstrate the ability to create a sitemap
- Demonstrate the ability to create a wireframe for the site
- Demonstrate the ability to create a storyboard for the site using photoshop
- Exercise practice in creating and saving graphics for the web
- Include at least one animation (banner ad is suggested)
- Include an example of a rollover
SITEMAP REQUIREMENTS:
- Level 1 – Home Page – must be named index.html
- Level 2 – 6 pages / main sections of the web site
- Level 3 – minimum 1 page, maximum 3 pages for each section
- Do not have a level 4.
PLANNING – 2 Weeks leading up to the Production Week
Week 1
- Research travel sites for the chosen territory – do not start anything until you have done research.
- Build a reference list of 3-5 sites that are good examples and 3-5 sites that are bad examples
- DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!!!! You may be asked to show your references. - Sitemap due next Friday
Week 2
- Gather content
- Images – try to use your own, if not find free to use images online, read the terms of use and credit accordingly. Contact the creators if necessary.
- Text – use Lorum Ipsum – make sure to style appropriately (headings, paragraphs, lists, etc.)
- Storyboard due Friday
PRODUCTION WEEK
- Build and test templates by TUESDAY
- Start adding content by Wednesday
- Start testing on THURSDAY
- Upload to the student server End of day Thursday
- Present to CLASS on FRIDAY
